a bit of texture

lots of texture necklace
I am still on my necklace making bit as it makes me happy as a clam! This one I love cause it has a whole lot of texture. I think the yarn, tulle, jersey, vintage lace and buttons make a lovely combination. What do you think? You can expect to see some of these in the shop soon.

Instead of waiting to have all my items ready at one time to update the shop, I will just update as I am able (less pressure for me), so tomorrow morning there will be this dollhouse pillow up for grabs. Next week, will be some necklaces and hair clips (hopefully). Being a mama to my three babycakies always comes first, so crafting and sewing sometimes gets thrown to the wayside.

Today is Thursday (yay!) and that means the weekend is almost here! Ben has been feeling under the weather lately, so please pray he gets better. We don't like our Papi feeling sick!

p.s. my sister and her friend are real cute and encouraging. you will no doubt be encouraged after reading what they did yesterday! this world needs more richelles and stephanies!

the first of our summer nights

We had some friends come over, made some homemade burgers, drank some yummy wine, indulged in peaches and ice cream, and enjoyed the beginning of our summer nights.

My favorite part is when the sun went down and I could turn on the canopy of lights we had over head. It is all so very pretty and perfect! Now on my shopping list is a very long vintage farm table... I think it would be perfect for our outside dining area.

Oh Summer... I dislike your heat during the day, but I love your nice and perfectly cool evenings at night! What do you like to eat or do for your summer nights outside?

week twenty-three
Can you see the little hummingbird?

Ah! Things are good. I am knee deep in lots of things I have to do and I feel like I can never catch up. That is why I have been a bit absent lately (okay, just yesterday). The girls are being more difficult these days and I think True is going through the terrible 2's a bit late in life (can it manifest at 4?). Now, off to dive back into all the things that need to be done!

10 things i have learned while gardening

1. digging holes is a good workout.
2. i like the smell of soil.
3. i like the feel of soil in my bare hands.
4. june is a horrible time to plant.
5. yellowing leaves means either too much/too little water.
6. i don't know how to figure out if i water too much/too little.
7. i have to learn to be patient as plants need time to grow.
8. diatomaceous earth is wondrous in getting rid of ants.
9. i like picking flowers from the garden and putting them inside the house.
10. having a garden is like having another kid... it takes a lot of time and energy to grow.

Our little garden is far from being done, like I said above, I need to be patient and let the plants grow as it will be awhile until everything looks nice and full and it really does take so much time to cultivate a garden. I am sure some plants will go kaput and I will have to fill the holes with something else. It is all such a learning process. I just want to go flea marketing to fill up the yard with cute tables and chairs, so we can all relax outside and enjoy our Summer nights. How do you plan on spending your summer nights? And do please share if you have any good gardening tips that you think will be helpful! I definitely can use all the help that I can get! I am sure some of you out there are real gardening pros...

See you all on Monday!

Seeing a cute baby in a basket full of clean laundry helps putting away laundry a little more appealing. You should try it sometime...

I went thrifting and came home with lots of colorful vintage baubles and a couple sweet enamel pins.

My sister-in-law is here and my girls are having a blast! They love their Auntia Suzi! Tomorrow we are headed to grab us some Sprinkles... yum!

a little piñata

At the community picnic yesterday, there was a piñata for all the kids, but with my girls being really shy, they did not want to participate. Though, as soon as we came home, True headed to her room to retrieve the little piñata that their grandmama got for them and she was trying to hang it so she and Brave could play. Ben and I decided to up their game a bit and actually put some goodies in it, hang it from the top of the stairs, and let them have a go at their own little piñata party. They had a blast!

I am glad my girls had fun having their own little piñata party at home. Maybe, we should practice with home piñata parties all the time, so they will be pros the next time they see one at a party!

slightly changed

Since we have been spending most days and evenings outside working on the garden, the inside of the house has been a bit, well, unkempt. Dishes were all over the kitchen, some even in our bathroom (seriously), and clothes and paper strewn all over the place. Finally, during their nap time yesterday, I did some cleaning and slight rearranging. I was definitely itching for a little change. I feel so much better and now I can see the bottom of our kitchen sink again!
flowers from outside
To bring some of the outside in, I cut some hydrangeas and brought them inside. Flowers always make a space more cheerful!

I just did some pillow moving and little vignette rearranging and the girls did a new piece on our chalkboard canvas.

I feel so much better with this slightly changed arrangement. Today holds more cleaning and tomorrow some morning gardening, then a trip to my parents' house because we have some family in town. On Sunday, our church is having a community picnic after our worship gathering, so if anyone lives in the L.A. area and want to join in for the picnic let me know! We are supposed to invite our friends and well, you all are my friends too! Just bring yourself and we will provide the food. If you are interested, send me an email and I will give you directions or the address. I would love to meet some of you!

Have a happy weekend friends! What are your plans for the weekend?

vintage scores

This 1930's/40's vintage lace dress and it fits me perfectly... so wonderful.
1930's/40's lace dress
I want to marry Ben again and wear this dress in a small garden wedding. Hmm... we are celebrating our 5 year anniversary next month, so maybe a teeny wedding could be recreated. That would be fun! Plus, it is always nice to reaffirm those vows again.

Also scored this vintage child bathing suit. Why can't they make more swimsuits like these?

Ebay and etsy, oh how I love you! Sometimes, most times, you have just the best things!

Have you found any good vintage things lately?
