a little mama

Ever since Soul joined our family, True and Brave have really taken to playing together a lot. It seems like their pretend play has grown since Soul came. Could it be that their Mommy is breast feeding, thus during this time they are left to wander and play to their heart's content? I think so.

After Soul's feeding, I have to go looking for what little corner the two big girls decided to claim as their own. Today, I found my little Brave in her room all by her lonesome.
this is how i found her

Oh but do not despair, as she was quite a happy bee as she was rocking the newest pair of mama-made dolls. She was acting like such a little Mama. Sometimes, she even has me call her Mama... oh the imagination of little ones!
rocking the babies
Yesterday, her and True had one request. They wanted a new doll, not that don't already have plenty, but as a doll-lover myself (I had tons of Barbies growing up) how could I refuse such a sweet request? Doll making for my girls is what I did and two new little dolls is what they get! Perfect for more pretend playing during those moments Mama is occupied with little Soul.

  1. So sweet. I can look at my little ones for ages when they are engaged in play like that.

  2. Adorable! They always say kids learn from their parents (mostly mom), so you can tell she has a great role model. ;^) Brave playing momma looks just so sweet & I really, really want her room! I love her new dolls... my girls are too old for dolls, but when I do have another baby, I will make her own dolls for sure. They are so much better than any store bought dolls & they all have different personalities. I can so see you girls growing up and being best friends & I can imagine lots of giggling in their rooms, etc. What fun! My girls are off for a 4 day weekend, so we'll do some baking & crafting.

I'm often "Katlyn Black" when we play. I don't know where they got the name... but that's waht they call me!

    We love to play!

  5. That is so sweet! And Brave acting all grown up.

Do you use a pattern to make your dolls? I am just learning to sew for this very reason - you have inspired me...but I want to find a pattern to make dolls similiar to what you have just made. Any suggestions?

  16. I am so glad you list what sewing machine you use...I need one so terribly and have the Janome Sew Precise at the very top of my wish list:)

I've bought (count them) FOUR second hand machines only to have them all malfunction. I am ready to take the leap and get a brand-new one and really teach myself to sew.

I'd LOVE the ability to make such sweet things each day for my little ones<3

  19. I really admire that you can make these cute dolls for your girls with seemingly such ease...
I came across your blog somehow with the post about an old sheet and fabric marker dolls. We love that idea and I am planning on making them with my girls during the "too" hot days we are having when the girls are stuck inside. (It's Summer here).
Thanks for all the beautiful stuff you share.
