My best friend shared this super easy, sort-of ice creamish recipe with me and now I am sharing it with you!
ingredients:
frozen bananas
blender
whatever toppings your heart desires
1. Get some bananas, old ones work perfectly.
2. Chop up your bananas.
3. Freeze your bananas until completely frozen. I did mine overnight.
4. Stick in a blender.
5. Blend until all mushed and resembles the consistency of ice cream.
6. Add some toppings.
For my girls' scoops, I put some honey and sprinkles and mine was topped with some crunched ferrero rocher.
7. Enjoy!
It definitely has a strong banana flavor, but it tastes yummy! Maybe next time I would add a scoop of vanilla before I blend it. I am sure there a lot more fun ways to add more to this recipe.
What are you snacking on this warm summer day?
p.s. last day for giveaway!
it seems so simple to not think of on my own! my son has lactose issues so this is a quick fix for offering him ice cream. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteSounds very yummy, I think the scoop of vanilla would be great!

Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteit's hardly been hot here, so we've actually done a lot of baking lately. Cut up watermelon is always a treat though.
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! What a great idea :)
ReplyDeleteooh I totally have made this before and loved it since I am allergic to dairy! I added a dallop of peanut butter and chocolate chips on top, yum!!
ReplyDeletei love to make agua fresca which is pretty much water & fruit (w a bit of sugar) blended with just enough water to be a drink & enough fruit to get a fruity tast & pulp. we use watermelon, strawberries, papaya, melon, cranberries... the list is endless! Agua de jamiaca is also refreshing these days!
ReplyDeletesuch a yummy idea! The Varsity in Georgia makes the best banana milkshake ever! This makes me crave it all the way from Oregon!
ReplyDeletei see the soy milk next to it...did you add a splash of that too? how do you like your vita mix?
ReplyDeletecame back to your blog to look at Trueski's screaming face picture. HAHAHAHAH.
ReplyDelete<3 peanut butter melted on top. YUMMMM
This is a great idea. As soon as I get a blender, I'm trying it.
ReplyDeletei make that too! i blend the bananas with a little cocoa powder, peanut butter & oats for fiber and it's delish. it was a dorm room staple in college..
ReplyDeletei do this all the time, but to make smoothies--so i add milk (or soy milk), plus either some fruit (nectarines are my favorite) or peanut/almond butter. cocoa powder is another option! gwendolyn i love the idea of adding oats, definitely trying that!
ReplyDeletefrozen bananas, almond butter, dates, almond milk and a touch of honey or maple syrup- the best smoothie ever!
ReplyDeletekrystin- yes! i totally forgot i added just a bit of soymilk to help with the blending. and we LOVE the vita-mix! definitely worth the investment and so so amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteooh.. peanut butter... i am definitely trying that! keep the ideas coming everyone!
I love banana shakes! Try adding spinach, milk and strawberries to your frozen bananas! You seriously can't even taste the spinach!
ReplyDeleteOh this is my favorite way to eat bananas!
ReplyDeleteUsually they're not that great to me; I just leave them out until they get really old and then freeze them for banana ice cream. Yum!
Your photos are gorgeous!
I've seen this before, but never tried it. maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteMmm this looks good! I'm going to have to try this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd ferrero rocher are sooo good! My neighbour works at the factory and she always brings us some. Mmm!
We love to do this icecream. But we put some soy yoghurt in. Banana is also great to mix with other fruits, such as berries.
