i have no clever title

The weekend was very good. Though, it seems like it is always good of late. Definitely, always busy and always good. There was lots of BBQ-ing, family, friends, laughing, joking, eating, and lots of heat. Tons of it. I don't really care for the heat.

Monday is here and I am beat. Super beat. Dead tired. I have my to-do list ready to get as much done while my mother-in-law is here for just a couple more days, so I will stay busy.
a to-do list
And seriously, all your comments and emails about my blog is so appreciated and means so much. I think from time to time I struggle with the idea of blogging, as I just write about my life and things I do, and I get afraid that it all seems so self-consumed and self-exalting. I always pray that it wouldn't be so and that Christ remain my focus and I am able encourage others to love Him and see Him more because of it. I don't think that I am the most creative person or best person out there, and I so acknowledge that there are far more wonderfully talented people than me. Plus, God is the one who enables the things that I do. I am just really glad and blessed to be part of this community. Seriously. You all are the best.

That's my little rant for the day, but just all this to say thank you for all your encouraging comments, especially emails. I will try to reply as soon as I am able. I am really so touched and I wish I could give all of you a hug. Just pretend I am able to.

Now, off to start another busy week...

A few days left of the giveaway and I am so excited that you all are just as excited about my best friend getting married.

it's not my story

But I am telling it anyways, so watch out... long post ahead.

My best friend is finally getting married. It has been such an eventful week as I, and a number of other people, have been anticipating Thursday. My day out yesterday to shop and have girl bonding time was all just part of a ploy (I didn't really shop, though I pretended like I was going to, it just isn't in our budget). John, the fiance, is clever. Ellen, the other best friend, is clever. And I, in the most humble way possible, am clever. We are masters of deceit, but all for the greater good, I assure you.

First, let me tell you about one of my best friends, her name is Linda. We met when we both worked at the GAP back in college, found out we were the same major at the same school, went to the same hairstylists, both shared the same faith in Christ, so you can say, we were like sisters just from different mothers. We travelled and studied abroad together and we never fought once. Okay, maybe we had mood swings cause of our monthly woman thing, but we never, ever fought. She knows my bad, good, ugly, messy, and all the nerdy crafty side of me.

There was only one way we were really different, okay maybe two, with the second being I nerd about crafting way more than she does. The first reason is that I am an extreme romantic (can you not tell?!!) and wanted to get married the day I learned what marriage was, which was when I was 5. Lin, on the other hand, well, she was a "woman hear me roar" kinda gal. So the fact that she was eagerly anticipating getting engaged and now planning a wedding, she has definitely come full circle. Believe or not, now she is even okay with changing her name. She swore she would never change it when she got married.

Okay, so I warned you this post was long (full of polaroids and digital pictures). Onto the story...

Yesterday, Linda thought that we were going to just hang out, eat, and shop. After which we were to pick up Ben from the train (he takes the train to work), so that we could stop by Hibbleton Gallery, which held the Instant Gratification: A Polaroid Party exhibit. I told her my polaroid pictures were there, and the good best friend that she is, was happy to tag along to see my stuff at the gallery. Then, we were all going to go to dinner. Of course, the nerdy-photography-lovin' blogger that I am had my polaroid camera and SLR with me, cause I have to take lots of pictures anywhere I go.

First, I wanted to make sure my polaroid camera was working, so I made an excuse to take a silly girl picture. We wanted a jumping picture (yes, I was gonna jump high with my ginormous belly), but I guess we didn't count off at the same with Ben. This awkward photo is so cute and funny that I love it. She wanted to take another picture, but I knew that I had to save my polaroids for something much more important inside.

We invited one of our other friends to the gallery and dinner, who is Linda's other best friend, Ellen, who with me has been alongside John plotting and planning. Ellen, just happen to get off work early and was already waiting at the gallery for us. Once we saw Ellen, we all said, "Hi!" and chatted about how long its been since we have seen each other.

We go inside the gallery and ooh and aah over all the polaroids and we start making our way on the left wall, looking for my pictures. I told them that the polaroid of True and the red balloon should be here, so that is what we were on the lookout for.
the polaroid exhibitwe are sneaky!!!
(Ellen being sneaky as Lin is looking)

Now, Linda was acting like she was on a treasure hunt and was zooming through all the photos so quickly that she made us worry a little bit. We knew there was one particular photo she needed to see, but she kept passing it and we didn't want her to see John (in person) without seeing the photo first. Ellen and I kept saying anything to get her to look at that general area, but she was not paying attention. Ben had already stepped outside to supposedly make a phone call, but it was to signal John to get ready. Finally, Linda saw the picture...

Linda instantly freaks out in shock, happiness, and loads of excitement as John walks through the door. I am going as fast as I could switching between my SLR and polaroid camera, it was so crazy and so much excitement!
AHHH! YES!!!lots of screamingwill you marry me?oh my gosh!!!she said yes!oh my gosh!lots of joyan unforgettable polaroid momentshe was so happylove is in the air
yes!

She was in such shock that she needed a moment...
she needed a breather

I am sure they will never forget this place.

Afterwards, we all headed across the street to the grab some drinks (water for me) and finally unload all the secrets we have been keeping from her. This is also the same bar that John was waiting and watching for us through the window. Of course, I made them takes lots of pictures (and can see them here).

Since I am pregnant, my best friend lets me have my cravings, so I said I was craving a good deli sandwich for dinner. Ellen, then just happily pronounced that her favorite place was just a few blocks away, so off we went to celebrate (and for Lin to get surprise #2)...
tears again!
Her one request, besides having John, was that she would be able to celebrate with her family and close friends. So at Roscoe's Deli, their families and closest friends were waiting to surprise Linda for the engagement party. Linda was so surprised again. She even started crying, again.

I wasn't really craving it, but it was good. It was such a joyous time. Linda didn't even eat, which I guess is just a slight taste of what the wedding will be like, because what bride and groom eat at their own wedding anyways?!! We didn't.
love i heart them lots
The night ended and I am sure Linda is still on cloud nine. These moments are such gifts from God, we must never forget to always give glory first to the gift giver. All this is God's doing. God worked in John. God worked in Lin. God put them together and now God will be working in them together. Praise God!

Oh I can't wait to get this wedding planning on the road. Finally! I love doing wedding stuff!!! Plus, I highly recommend marriage, it is loads of fun!

Linda and John, we love you both so much! Congratulations!!!

p.s. On a completely different note, the shop is updated with cameos and some other goodies. Oh and don't forget the giveaway!!!

sweet collections

We are collectors of things in this house. Not too many things as I am not a clutter collecting person, but we like sweet things. Odd things. Old things. Nature things.

True has taken to collecting rocks, sticks, and flowers any chance she gets. They all end up in the house on and on the fireplace mantel. When I see her little collections, it reminds me of her sweet little hands and how happy she is collecting these things. Kids really don't need that many toys.

Now, it is about time to share what will be in tomorrow's shop update. This is something new that I have been making that I am absolutely swooning over. I wear it. True wears it. Brave wears one too. It is so dainty, vintage, grown up, but equally as lovely for a little girl. I really love these new hair clips! Each lovely lady is cut by hand and the trim is antique trim from a vintage tablecloth (more can be seen here, here, and here).

Thank you everyone for the blog-birthday wishes. I am so encouraged by all of you. It is fun to have so many friends from all over the place, even Ben gets so excited to read your comments and to see which are your favorite posts. I love him so much and so happy that he nerds about all this stuff with me too! We are a nerdy-lovey-dovey couple that way. It is the absolute best! Well, keep the comments coming for the giveaway as I can't wait to see who this lovely polaroid camera will go home to.

I can't wait for the shop update tomorrow, but for today my mother-in-law is here and I have a date with my best friend this afternoon sans kids. I haven't hung out with her without kids in so long. It will be some fun girl bonding time of shopping, eating, antiquing... did I mention eating? Well, you get the picture. Some days we need time off, right? Maybe, I will find more things to add to my different collections. Hmm... maybe clothes. Now, I am sure we all collect that!

Happy Thursday!!!

two

Today, marks my blog's 2nd birthday. A bloggy-birthday you may say and I am celebrating it. Is that strange?
happy bloggy-birthday to me!
I didn't bake this ganache just for the occasion as I had some frozen ones left over from a craving a month or so ago, so I took it out and stuck two candles. I am no longer craving the chocolate ganache, so I didn't eat it and used it only for picture purposes. It will probably just end up in the trash (as it has some unhealthy ingredients), but I needed something to put the candles in.

Blogging these past two years has been such a blessing. I have had so much fun crafting, cooking, watching my girls grow, but basically, just living life and sharing it. Here are three things that I have learned from this wonderful journey thus far:

1. God must always be treasured above all things.
2. This online community is so talented and amazing.
3. I really love nerding about creating/crafting.

I figure, if you read my blog, you must also love polaroids, so to celebrate, I am going to giveaway a polaroid camera and a pack of polaroid film.
want a polaroid?
Now, if your thinking this will do you no good as polaroid film has ended, think again! It is going to be back in production in 2010 and you could read all about it here. Therefore, whoever wins this little beauty will be all set for a lifetime of polaroid picture taking.

What to do to enter:
1. Leave a comment telling me about your favorite post.
2. Leave your email.
3. Make sure you are a follower of this blog (check out sidebar on the right). Plus, I am thinking of doing a "just because" package for one lucky follower each week or each month, depending on what is realistic. This will give me a chance to get to know more of you slowly, so you will want to make sure you are following.

That's fairly easy right?

I will pick and announce the winner next Tuesday, September 1st (and those overseas are welcome to join). Oh my! It will already be September. Time is really flying...

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop in here from time to time. Your constant encouragement, love, and support means so much! I look forward to many blog posts to come...

polaroid tuesday: week thirty-four

Pictures of balloons are always fun and pretty. Don't you think?
week thirty-four
Thanks to those who purchased from the last shop update, I will be putting it all in the mail soon. There will be another shop update this Friday and this has some more whimsical stuff!

And tomorrow is my 2 year blog birthday. I want to think of something fun to do, but my brain is stuck. Maybe, a grand idea will come to me today! We'll see...

p.s. Anyone live near/in Greenville, OH? There is this wonderful find on ebay, I would buy it up if I lived close enough to pick it up. Too bad for me it is local pick up only. Hurry up the auction ends soon!

a good weekend

plop! plop! plop!they loved the waterplop!she was Brave!the cold lessens the feet swelling
We spent Saturday at the beach with some friends. Sunday was a full day with church in the morning, Unique LA in the afternoon (running into this gal and chatting up with this gal), and dinner at my parents' house in the evening. 'Twas a happy, happy weekend!

Hope your weekend was just as full and good.

p.s. I gave one of my good friends a braided necklace for a "just because" package. Did anyone do any "just because" packages this weekend?

in the mail

I signed up for Danni's package exchange and was so excited when I was finally able to "meet" my swap partner, Fallon. We excitedly exchanged emails, shop links, and blogs and got to know each other that way. We were both so ecstatic and after perusing her blog (and shop), I knew that I would love whatever she sent. There were a few rules for the package exchange, but the main focus of the swap was to focus on packaging and darn it... I think my swap partner did a mighty fine job! I think I am just going to let the pictures tell the rest of the story...
my package swap has arrived!my instructions!bet you never seen packaging this cute!prime property!!!it came in a house!!!darn that cute packaging!!!wow! that's all mine?!!wrapped so prettyshe wants all my goodies!my goodies from the swapfrom my package swap partner
Don't you just love it all?!! I got a cool polaroid postcard, these earrings that I have been eyeing, lovely vintage fabric, a cool vintage sweater for the newest babycakies, and a polaroid pillow made by Fallon herself! Not to mention the packaging, which of course is the focus of this whole exchange... a dollhouse box, oh my! The girls are having so much fun having another dollhouse to play with. When you have two girls, there is no such thing as too many dollhouses or dolls...

I just knew from the beginning that someone who comes up with the famous suitcase pillows would be sending something terrific and it is Terrific with a capital T! Thank you so much Fallon, I (and my girls) absolutely love it all!!! I hope you like what we send you just as much as we love yours (if only one more thing would arrive and it would be on its way)!

It is so nice to encourage someone with a package just because. I think if more "just because" packages were passed around, this world would be a bit happier. Don't you think?

I challenge you to do a "just because" package this weekend. It would be fun. Maybe, you will have something to share with me on Monday if you did. I already have a friend in mind to give something to! See you on Monday...

p.s. True is in my pictures not because she came in the box, but because she was standing there trying to steal all my presents!
