for you friends

I wish so many of us lived closer together and are actually able to meet. I am sure we would all be the best of friends and if it were so, you would be one of three to receive a bag to make some Amish Friendship Bread...

Ben received the starter bag and instructions from a co-worker almost 10 days ago and today was the day to finally bake it. I must say it came out moist and tasty and I am glad that I get to have two loaves. Though, I am sure the nutritional content is not that great... loads of sugar and oil are not the most recommended thing, but it tastes oh so good! I am keeping another starter to attempt to make a "healthier" version of it in 10 days. I will use whole wheat flour, applesauce, and maybe splenda-mix to see how that turns out. I hope it turns out just as yummy, but I guess there is only one way to find out.

Well friends, have a happy weekend and enjoy what Spring is bringing you wherever you are...

p.s. If you are my friend and I am seeing you this weekend, expect a bag from me.

  3. mmm... the best part about homemade bread (besides the smell & taste, of course!) is that you can make little sculptures out of the doughy middle of each slice! :)

...at least, that's what I used to do when my mom made bread...

  4. Yum, I love friendship bread! I just found your blog via those gorgeous scrap necklaces. I am sooooo excited to get on this project. I love the colors you used and how beautiful they look against the white tee. Just beautiful! I'd love to link to that post if you don't mind!

  6. I have some in my freezer! It is very good -- in fact, so good I'm afraid it can't be all that healthy for us, especially at the rate we consume it!
