we partied hard

My momma was an especially happy girl! Everyone she loved was there and everyone involved did such a wonderful job (thank you to all who lent a helping hand or lovely words, we are so grateful!). It was a night full of love, entertainment and lots of fun! I just gotta say that I am not the singer of the family (the one in blue with red hair is but she forgot the words), and my voice quivers a lot when I have to sing in front of people, but we had fun putting together this little thing for our momma (and I hope you enjoy it too!). Here is a little tidbit of what went on...

Obviously, we are a silly bunch and we all love our momma a whole lot! Well now that the party is over, I am looking forward to a little more breathing room and some boredom. Yippee!!!

These two boxes provide my girls countless hours of fun this weekend. The box has tranformed from car to boat to house to slide and lot of other things in between. Oh! And the balls of foil they are holding can be deceiving because it isn't just any foil... no sir, those are moon rocks! I tell you, non-toys are way more fun and engaging that real toys.

it's about time

My littlest sister finally opened up her etsy shop... richellephant.

My sister is a little artist. She hand paints some of the rings herself and she uses the tiniest little brush to get in all her details. It is definitely a work of art. I have a hard time painting with a big brush, I don't know how she does it with a tiny one! This one is my favorite.

Richelle, or RJ as we call her, is inspiring because she is really following her dream. She wants to be a dancer, despite no formal training growing up, so now she is working really hard to be up to par so that she could be a dance major. She is taking lots of dance classes at a local studio and works everyday to strengthen her legs. Dance classes are expensive, so my parents said she needed to get a job. I told her to open an etsy, so now here she is. Give my littlest sister some love and purchase one of her lovely creations. It would make her so happy (me too)! She shows everyone that it is never too late to follow your dream even if comes a bit later in life.

the weekend

The culmination of last week's busyness in preparation for my best friend's bridal shower paid off and I think she had a grand time. Though, a posting of the shower will have to wait just a bit as I am too tired to go through tons of pictures. Sunday, was another fantastic day at church and then we went to my parents' house for dinner and what turned out to be some dancing.

I have mentioned before that my baby sister is a dance major and I bugged her to show me a video of her dancing. When she finally showed me, I cried. My baby sister, who is 10 years younger than me, has grown up and is a dancer, a really cute dancer! She insisted that she is better now than in the video as she has been practicing it more since then, so she was going to show me, but what turned her into dancing for me become a dance lesson for me. I put on some sweats and she taught me how to dance it. I am not as good as her, but I got my own version of it down an hour later.

(Don't mind the mess in the background, at my parents' house spending time together is more important that cleaning up!)

We were crazy tired and now I have bruises on my hands as a result of it, but it was so much fun! My motto for the evening was no pain, no gain. Me and my little sisters.

We love. We fight. We shop. We talk. And sometimes we even treat each other to a little something something...

Thanks to my middle sister, baby sister and I got a new toy, Mr. Fuji Instax Mini. Even my sisters love instant photography!

I love how now that we are getting older, my sisters and I are getting closer. They even have blogs too... one is a dinosaur called Reinnasaurus, and the other an elephant called Richellephant.

Here is a cute little sister story... When Rein was starting to get older, I would have my sisters come in my room and we would lock the door, blast some No Doubt and dance. I was trying to teach my sisters how to dance (not that I was the greatest), but my littlest sister, RJ, was too shy to dance in front of me and Rein. We would try and try to get her to dance with us, but she would refuse repeatedly. Fast forward to now, guess who is a dance major in college and wants to be a professional dancer? That's right the littlest sister, RJ. Guess me and Rein inspired her (*wink*)!

I hope these three sisters will love, fight, shop, talk, treat each other to a little something something, and even teach each other how to dance.

I must say, sisters are the best. Well, so are brothers, but we have only one and we love him just as much! Not sure if my girls will ever have a brother as I think Ben and I can only make girls.

unicorn of the sea

My littlest seester, she really isn't that little, and her special friend have a endearing love for the "unicorns of the sea," so for Christmas I made them both their own narwhal-ish goodie. The seester got a little softie...

The special friend got a crown...
I was bit surprised that this 19 year old boy would be wanting a crown so badly, but he did. It was that or a poncho. I opted to make him the crown. Now, a pair of friendly narwhals grace his head and greet everyone, "Hola!" 

I haven't touched my sewing machine since Christmas, but I am starting to miss it. Though right now, there is lots of cleaning and organizing to be had.

homepage goodness and a new stack

It is always exciting to make it to the etsy homepage, even more special is that it's my littlest seester wearing Cakies...

Also, I have a wonderful new stack of vintage fabric, which consists of some european linen and more tablecloths...
I love new stacks of fabric. I love to fold, and re-fold and look at them cause they are darn pretty! Now, if I can just get orders done to make something for my girls and more once in awhiles to put in the shop.

seester time

My little-est seester came over so that we could go together to pick up her new sewing machine (and have a sleepover). Also, with the new sewing machine came a quick lesson and so now we are sewing machine twins...

For the red haired sister...

It is my red headed sister's 19th birthday today and I was able to make her a little something...


Can't quite see the red in her hair, but rest assured it is there...It is everywhere!!! Since she is a cosmetologist, her hair changes every week!!! Poor girl was so exhausted on her birthday, nevertheless she loved her gift and was excited to start using it...

This is for my mom who has bugging me to make her a clutch of sorts. This pattern is great from Amy Karol's fabulous book...

I am running out of vintage buttons to put on all my clutches...gotta make a run to Salt Water Designs!!! And I am working on more clippies to try to get to some stores that I never make any to put on etsy...I hear my etsy calling, but I still don't answer. I really do need to get to it!!!
