SEASONAL MAKINGS

I saw this craft project over at Bloesem Kids and knew it would be a fun little project to do with the girls. We don't get too crazy decorating for Halloween, but I wanted to have a little spooky-ish touches here and there, so I remembered that little project and we made our own. I didn't follow the instructions because I just went off memory (it is a fairly simple idea). Now that I am reading the directions, what I did differently was that I connected the pipe cleaners into a really long one, wrapped the yarn, and then shaped the word. I am sure either way works just fine. Though the way we did it, we could easily unravel the word to make a new one, which I kinda like.

Okay, so our sign isn't quite spooky, but I thought it was just the right little thing to get festive and still remain stylish and match our home. Orange and black doesn't really match us. We have a few more little things to craft up today to add a few more scary touches here and there, as well as make a pretty Autumnal wreath.

How do you decorate for the Autumn and Halloween?

  4. great idea! i love this time of year, but most of the decorations i see around i would not use.

my mother made hand leaves with my daughter and hung them on a window. i might make some more and make a little garland.

  5. Cute idea! Perfect kid-friendly seasonal craft... I think I'll be storing this away for future years :)

Hmm my husband and I just bought our own home, and I'm with you in that weird orange tints and black just aren't really us, so I decorate with LOTS of candles, different colored pumpkins or squash on the mantle/table, pretty autumn wreaths, and all my cozy throw blankets!

  10. so cute! I love that and I like that it is not the typical black and orange....as those colors don't really go with the theme of my home sweet home either...thanks for sharing!
