I know many of you have asked how I get her to dress the way she does or is it me just dressing her. Most days, it is both of us. I give her a couple choices and she picks based on the options. There is only one outfit that stands out in my mind that she didn't really want to wear (see here), but other than that we're good.
I think with my girls being so girly like me, their closet full of dresses and skirts give them plenty of stuff that they love. They love it too much that they actually change numerous times a day, which leaves me having to pick up their clothes strewn all over the house, numerous times a day too.
This school day, I was running late and I had her just get dressed completely by herself. She just asked me if it was going to be warm or cold and based on what I told her, this was the result. She added the scarf cause I put her hair in a bun and she says her neck gets cold when it isn't down. I think she does fine mixing and matching without me too.
Do you let your kids dress themselves completely or is it a team effort?
I absolutely adore her outfit! What a darling girl!
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite one yet, I love her little scarf!!
ReplyDeletedanni- it's cause of all the yellow!
Deletei think this has to be my favorite one yet as well! and not just because the yellow shirt is from me or that it is my favorite color ;) it's because this girl has incredible style!!!

thank you. THANK YOU! For not being too "matchy, matchy." My girls (ages 5 and 4) dress themselves and I will usually change out a piece or two before we leave the house. Yay for tiny toms!
ReplyDeleteI used to volunteer at the Montessori School when my kids were little and the most creative and bright kids were the ones that seemed to pick out their own outfits. They didn't have a "right" and "wrong" angst about dressing. I think True is a stylist in the making! She is way more creative than I am!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I WANT TO WEAR THIS EXACT OUTFIT?????
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute! My girls are the same way...they love to pick out their clothes and change several time a day! I am always finding skirts and dresses on the floor of the closet, ugh. But I love letting them be themselves :)
ReplyDeletecutest outfit ever! love her heart clip. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of True's "out to school" outfits, and this is no exception! So cute that she asked you about the weather and decided on a scarf - smart cookie! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd wear this! She did so good, mama!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. I hope that my little girl picks out outfits like this when she gets a bit older...I'll for sure let her if this is what she chooses!! :)
ReplyDeleteGirls got style! I dream of having little girls one day! I grew up with two sisters so I am all about having little girls, and fun sister time and all that great stuff. I'm definitely going to be one of those moms who lets her daughter express her creativity through dressing herself. I think mismatched little outfits are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThis is so precious. She is going to be the epitome of style at school. If she isn't already!
ReplyDeletehi Ruby and all! coudl you let me know which program you are using to edit your photos? I woudl like to add text to them too.

She is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteShe's a natural! Such a cool outfit! How old is she again?
ReplyDeleteshe will be 6 next month!
DeleteMy only real rule with my three year old is she can't run around naked, in only underwear, or jammies all day. And she can't be a gray/black/pink monster. Which is wearing the exact same shade of pants and shirt. And she's got it down. I love seeing what she comes up with! And sometimes when she is having a hard time deciding she'll pick either a pants/skirt or shirt she wants to wear and I'll pick the other.
