WATCHING MOVIES

It hasn't been that difficult living tv-less since our television bit the dust last May. Actually, it is kinda nice since I don't think televisions are that pretty and the space it used to occupy is no longer an eye sore. Now, we have plants and pretty things there!

We are still able to get some television on our computers thanks to Hulu, but the only shows in mine and Ben's repertoire are Supernatural (yes, we like scary things), New Girl, and Fringe (my show, not Ben's). The only thing difficult about living without television is that I don't know what news is going out in the world and usually only find out when people start tweeting about some occurrence. I probably should check some online news site more often. Other than that, living without a television has worked well for us and movie watching is done on our computers. The best part is just add on a projector and our ipod speaker system and we got ourselves our own little home theatre. Better than any large television in my honest opinion.

We lay blankets out, bring out the trays, have some yummy food and we all love the coziness of our own home theatre. We spent the day after New Year's just chillin' out and watching a movie together. It was such a nice, cozy, comfy, lazy day. Those can sometimes be the best kind, don't you think?

  6. We do the same thing! Well our projector is in our basement aka man cave, but I have hulu on our laptop on the main level and we never use the "real" TV, maybe if the president is giving a speech ect. I get my news from Twitter or Facebook, TV news stressed me out. Hulu is awesome :-)

  7. That's really cool! My VHS/DVD player recently bit the dust so I'm having to reevaluate the whole Tube situation of late... A projector could be a neat alternative!

  9. my inspector gadget husband would die without a TV (in every room of the house). I honestly could live without one, thanks to Hulu. I'd like a projector though, but I would need a wall first. hahaha! I think playing Wii and kinect will be loads of fun with a projector.

  15. beautiful fireplace! I'm hoping the next place we live will have a fireplace in the living space and that will be the main focus of the room and then we'll have a tv in another room. for now our old, bulky tv is a huge eyesore.

  20. I like life w/o a television too. Well, we do have one but no cable. We only use it for movies.

I swear, your little Brave and my 2nd girl look so similar. Long hair in her eyes and all. All your girls are so beautiful.

  22. Your own little home theatre - what a great idea! Love it.

We have tv, but we don't watch it a lot. Maybe it would be better to have plants an other pretty things there. :)

  24. We don't have TV either, it's lovely to see how much family time one can have without it! Plus there's Hulu. I catch up on news with NPR. It works for me.

  25. love it! we also are tv-less and watch on the computer. count me in on the people who would like a projector recommendation. it would work so much better for our seating and everyone could watch. we have the perfect wall too! thanks!

  27. I LOVE this! My husband and I haven't had a TV for the past two years of our married life. Only because our iMac is as big as a TV and we watch everything online anyway. We've been talking about getting one when we move, but have also discussed getting a projector instead. Your girls are so cute watching it on the floor- I think I'm sold. Haha. You should do a commercial :)

  29. I only watch news for the weather...I think NPR or PBS is a pretty good option for news (without all the ads for tv shows :) )

Are they watching enchanted? I adore that movie!
