Tomorrow it's just me and them. I am really nervous for me and I think Ben is really nervous for me (or maybe more for them). I have been thinking about some of the verses you have shared and I probably should put them on post-its and scatter them around the house so I will be reminded throughout the day. I definitely need fighter and comfort verses.

If you do remember, please do pray for me. I will definitely need it. I am by no means a perfect mother and my need to control (and failure to let God) gets the best of me most of the time, which also robs me the joy of serving God through my children. If there was a Control Freak Anonymous, I would be the first to be at the podium...

Hello. My name is Rubyellen and I am a control freak.

Learned and links...

- My love for ketchup (and onions) is coming back and I am liking burgers again. Yum.

- I need something sweet to eat after every meal. Preferably chocolate.

- Glow is an eater, more like a drinker, and is gaining weight nicely. This week we will check the prognosis of her jaundice.

- Soul has been finicky with foods of late.

- Ben really is the best (Yup, you Ben!). He has completely taken over everything these past few weeks and his presence will really be missed while his days will now be spent at work and not at home. I am thinking he may do better as a stay home dad than I do as a stay home mom.

- I have nothing to wear to a wedding this Saturday as my body is still in that weird postpartum filled with lots of milk stage. Melody, are sweats an option?!

- I like this bag, these shoes, and these wedges.

- This DIY is rad.

- I want to eat these. Actually, I was about to make some when I realized I had no flour and butter.

- Oh! And I need to do kegels in a major way. Let's just say I made an accident and for a minute I thought my water broke, but then realized that I already had the baby. Oy! Now I know what it feels like to be a toddler.

Ah... tomorrow is Monday!

  1. haha! you made me laugh about the kegels. I think every new mum has had that experience!!
I'm sure you'll survive with the girls :)

  2. Oh kegels... Anyway, your little glow worm is the sweetest! Sending calm mommy thoughts your way for tomorrow (and you should totally make those cookies... they are incredible).

  3. Will definately pray for you. Completely relate with the control freak thing. God is good and who cares if the house looks like a bomb has hit it. Love xx

  4. You can do it! You will be in my prayers tomorrow as I work with first and second graders and 9 art clubbers after school. My goal is just letting go of perfection and trying to bring out the best in each of them. That simple - hah as if kids are simple... Well you get it, you have already gotten it and you just have to live in the moment tomorrow and remember to breathe as you go up and down the roller coaster!

  5. Definitely praying for you! I hope your day goes well! I can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck! xo, rv

  6. Your girls are so cute. Post-partum nervousness is the worst. It totally steals from having a new baby. I had it big time with both of my girls. You'll do great. You already have.

  7. I have something for you to read Rubyellen.

I hope it will help you.

Go with the flow Rubyellen otherwise you will have lots of wrinkles & white hair.

  8. Aw, Ruby you can definitely do it! You are such an amazing person. It's going to be tough to get used to it at first, but every day will get a little bit easier!

I'll be thinking of you! Wish I could help you out. :)

You have the sweetest family ever.

  9. oh, those shoes are SO cute!

and you will do awesome tomorrow! i will be sending thoughts and prayers your way...

enjoy the rest of your night with your sweet little family!

  10. Your four girls are truly adorable and I have a wonderful text to add to the many that were sent to encourage you:

When I said "My foot is slipping," your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul - Ps 94:18-19

I think all mothers doubt themselves sometimes or even most times, forever wondering if our choices or actions are correct. But these doubts will vanish soon. ENJOY your girls & have fun! that is the most important thing xx

  11. You made me smile with your

"weird postpartum filled with lots of milk stage"

comment. I am getting ready to have baby #2 and totally remember that stage. Even just finding a decent outfit to leave the house in is hard. But you have incredible style, so I know you will end up looking great.

And good luck with your big day tomorrow. Just remember God will be right there with you, through the highs and the lows. And He made you to do this. You will do great.

  12. Bahahaha the kegel thing made me laugh! xxx

  13. I just laughed and it took me back to funny and glamourous times of my own... peeing my pants while pregnant. thanks for the laugh :)
    Praying for you all tomorrow!

  14. v funny re: 'water breaking'

good luck Ruby! will be sending you all my best vibes for your first day at home with four. just take it easy and be kind to yourself. you can do it :)

  15. You will do great! The girls are so good! and Glow looks like she behaves so well!
    I will pray for you!

  16. I've never left a comment before- but I am cheering you on from Melbourne! I have 3 little ones and I know it gets tough (and there is 4)...good days and bad days are to be had- but you will always remember the good ones! It's fantastic that you believe in God and try to rely on him.:)

  17. He he I was laughing out loud on several occasions. Yes, I would be your deputy CF! My Dr told me the 2nd child just brings themself up so imagine what number 4 does! You will do fine. Adjust your expectations, stop when you feel overwhelmed, count to 10, pray and start over again xx

  18. my 4th baby is now 5 years old, and I still pray everyday...for myself!! I will add you to that list :-)

some days you will do it great
other days you will be ok
and some days, you will feel you failed

    but you know that already...

I LOVED the early days with my four, when I did not just make it through, but SOARED through my day...
you have doubt you will soar

    prayers for courage
    and grace

    and my advice....
    thats what I did...

    the messy house
    the unfolded laundry
    the dirty baby
    the crying toddler...

    I took pictures of it...
helped me see it in a new light, and helped me to laugh...

hang on to that humor of yours...

  19. Oh sister slow your roll! I miss you wish I could be there we need to skype soon you pick the day/time anytime starting after Wed 12 noon. Everything will be fine :) take it one day, one meal, one feeding, one diaper, one tantrum at a time and soon enough you'll be in bed again and resting for the next day. 21. seriously, you are awesome. I love how real and open you are on the blog. Most of the time I feel like Im reading blogs of imaginary women who have perfect lives, but you're a regular lady like me :)

I will definitely be praying for you :)

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

  22. I'll be praying for you...And praise be, God gives grace! I don't have any kids and I still am thankful for that.

  23. Ruby,
Your honesty tells so much about you! I am encouraged by your willingness to share you praises and concerns with your readers!

I will be praying for your big day today! As many said above, it's so amazing that we have a God that gives grace!!! I am sure that He will help you through the stress and the control-freak-ness ;)...He always does!

Much love and hugs to you and your precious girlies!

  24. I laughed about kegels... I felt terrible the first time I tryed jumping in a trampoline after having Lilla... Oh my! I did not expect that!!

praying for you, dear, may God be with you, and feed you with His never ending patience and mercy! =)

    hugs from Brazil

  27. You're in my prayers! But you're an awesome mom! Remember that God and your girls love you exactly the way you are!! :)

  28. Good luck! That first day being on your own is always scary, but you're pro now, right? ;) And oh, kegels...thanks for the reminder!

  29. ah yes, kegals... I tell myself everyday that I need to do those, but seem to leave it/forget. I had accidents leading up to the delivery of my last baby... those muscles get wrecked!

Good job surviving, mama, you can do it! It looks like your doing an A+ job. And treat yourself to that chocolate, you deserve it. xo
