Tomorrow it's just me and them. I am really nervous for me and I think Ben is really nervous for me (or maybe more for them). I have been thinking about some of the verses you have shared and I probably should put them on post-its and scatter them around the house so I will be reminded throughout the day. I definitely need fighter and comfort verses.
If you do remember, please do pray for me. I will definitely need it. I am by no means a perfect mother and my need to control (and failure to let God) gets the best of me most of the time, which also robs me the joy of serving God through my children. If there was a Control Freak Anonymous, I would be the first to be at the podium...
Hello. My name is Rubyellen and I am a control freak.
Learned and links...
- My love for ketchup (and onions) is coming back and I am liking burgers again. Yum.
- I need something sweet to eat after every meal. Preferably chocolate.
- Glow is an eater, more like a drinker, and is gaining weight nicely. This week we will check the prognosis of her jaundice.
- Soul has been finicky with foods of late.
- Ben really is the best (Yup, you Ben!). He has completely taken over everything these past few weeks and his presence will really be missed while his days will now be spent at work and not at home. I am thinking he may do better as a stay home dad than I do as a stay home mom.
- I have nothing to wear to a wedding this Saturday as my body is still in that weird postpartum filled with lots of milk stage. Melody, are sweats an option?!
- This DIY is rad.
- I want to eat these. Actually, I was about to make some when I realized I had no flour and butter.
- Oh! And I need to do kegels in a major way. Let's just say I made an accident and for a minute I thought my water broke, but then realized that I already had the baby. Oy! Now I know what it feels like to be a toddler.
Ah... tomorrow is Monday!
haha! you made me laugh about the kegels. I think every new mum has had that experience!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll survive with the girls :)
Oh kegels... Anyway, your little glow worm is the sweetest! Sending calm mommy thoughts your way for tomorrow (and you should totally make those cookies... they are incredible).
ReplyDeleteWill definately pray for you. Completely relate with the control freak thing. God is good and who cares if the house looks like a bomb has hit it. Love xx
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! You will be in my prayers tomorrow as I work with first and second graders and 9 art clubbers after school. My goal is just letting go of perfection and trying to bring out the best in each of them. That simple - hah as if kids are simple... Well you get it, you have already gotten it and you just have to live in the moment tomorrow and remember to breathe as you go up and down the roller coaster!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely praying for you! I hope your day goes well! I can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck! xo, rv

Your girls are so cute. Post-partum nervousness is the worst. It totally steals from having a new baby. I had it big time with both of my girls. You'll do great. You already have.
ReplyDeleteI have something for you to read Rubyellen.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will help you.

Go with the flow Rubyellen otherwise you will have lots of wrinkles & white hair.
Aw, Ruby you can definitely do it! You are such an amazing person. It's going to be tough to get used to it at first, but every day will get a little bit easier!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you! Wish I could help you out. :)
You have the sweetest family ever.
oh, those shoes are SO cute!
ReplyDeleteand you will do awesome tomorrow! i will be sending thoughts and prayers your way...
enjoy the rest of your night with your sweet little family!
Your four girls are truly adorable and I have a wonderful text to add to the many that were sent to encourage you:
ReplyDeleteWhen I said "My foot is slipping," your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul - Ps 94:18-19
I think all mothers doubt themselves sometimes or even most times, forever wondering if our choices or actions are correct. But these doubts will vanish soon. ENJOY your girls & have fun! that is the most important thing xx
You made me smile with your
ReplyDelete"weird postpartum filled with lots of milk stage"
comment. I am getting ready to have baby #2 and totally remember that stage. Even just finding a decent outfit to leave the house in is hard. But you have incredible style, so I know you will end up looking great.
And good luck with your big day tomorrow. Just remember God will be right there with you, through the highs and the lows. And He made you to do this. You will do great.
Bahahaha the kegel thing made me laugh! xxx
ReplyDeletev funny re: 'water breaking'

ReplyDeleteHe he I was laughing out loud on several occasions. Yes, I would be your deputy CF! My Dr told me the 2nd child just brings themself up so imagine what number 4 does! You will do fine. Adjust your expectations, stop when you feel overwhelmed, count to 10, pray and start over again xx
