hypnobirth class 4

hypnobirth
It's been awhile since I wrote about my hypnobirthing class, but is has been awhile since I had one. Life took over for us and Ben and I haven't been able to have a session with Dr. AnnaLynn, tonight will be our last one.

Last class, believe it or not, Ben did not fall asleep during our hypnosis session. I think he was trying very hard to keep alert, my mom sat in to watch me go into hypnosis a bit, so she would know what to expect when she was there with us in the birthing room. And I have been practicing a whole lot since then. I try to do it every night before bed, then I use it to lull me to sleep, and once in the mid-afternoon. The afternoon practices are harder because the boisterous energy of True and Brave in the room sometimes won't let me relax.

I know I am the guinea pig for all my friends and some people are still weirded out by the whole idea. It really isn't that strange friends, it is just getting to a place of deep relaxation and using your imagination. It really is quite nice. Some people try to get me to put myself in hypnosis in front of them, but I think that is just too weird, so I don't. Plus, I need my music and anchors and need to be super comfy and being in the middle of a pizza parlor ain't the comfiest.

I am at 36 weeks now and normally go somewhere in my 38th week (what?! can I really be that close?!!), and I am pretty excited about my body doing the birthing process this time around. I am not quite ready yet, as there are things that still need to get done before this baby makes an appearance (I need to put together a hospital bag and a going home outfit) and try to clean more of the house. I am just anticipating when it will be time to put all I have been practicing into action. Really, I am so excited! I have dreams all the time that this baby just slides right out of me!

At the same time, I am really cherishing these last few weeks as this will be the last time Ben and I will be in this place. Unless God pulls a fast one on us, four is as high of a number as we will go, so I am trying to memorize and enjoy every little bump and kick I feel inside of me. I will really miss feeling a baby inside me. I think I am also finally slowing down as I have been more tired these days and though I have been working out this entire pregnancy (I try to do 5-6 days a week with Ben), today was the first day I felt like, "Whoa! This workout is kinda hard now."

I was telling Ben last night that maybe we should make a papier-mâché out of my belly. Strange, I know, but I am just trying to figure out a way to capture these last days in this stage of our life. My heart is really full trying to fathom and enjoy it all and not let it escape too quickly, but at the same time we are super duperly excited to meet the newest one! I think we may even have a name. Maybe. Almost. We will see...

  2. So excited for you! We're still throwing it around whether we will have another. We currently have two little ladies and somedays we know without a doubt we need one more and others, well, we know without a doubt we're just fine. While we continue to think about expanding, I get sad thinking about the possibility of not being pregnant again. It is such a joy and pure magic (for me at least). Glad to hear you're cherishing these last few quiet moments as a family of five. Maybe a little henna on your belly and some lovely pics? Or, and this I suggest because I would love one, head over to Jordan Ferney's site (Oh Happy Day) and send her hubby a pic of your belly to have him do a commissioned pic of your last pregnancy. Sending you lots of peaceful, harmonious birth vibes for when the time comes. Best to you and yours =)

  9. That's such an interesting method, and I have enjoyed reading about your experiences with it! I haven't had any kids yet but I really think it's all about finding something that works for you, and this seems to be great!

My boyfriend's sister-in-law did a papier-mâché cast of her belly (and breasts) for her first pregnancy and painted it in all sorts of rainbow colors. It's hanging in the nursery. It's kind of strange but also SUPER-cool!

  12. Oh, I've not been here for ages, but I just had to comment.

Our fourth pregnancy was a bit of a "surprise" - we found we were pregnant basically the same week that we (well, my husband, bless him) had taken the necessary action to avoid further pregnancies.
We were genuinely overjoyed that we were getting a bonus baby and I made sure to record in my head every. single. sensation. of that pregnancy because I KNEW it was the last pregnancy with no chance of more.

I'm still bf-ing baby number 4 and it is going to be such a wrench to stop and to realise that my body, finally, is no longer nourishing my babes.

PS Have to confess that I was so relieved to leave the labour unit for the definite last time that I even said a small swearie word in my head... ;-)

  14. So exciting! It sounds like it's going to be a wonderful. I have several friends who swear by hypnobirthing and it sounds really great. You should totally do a belly cast! You can order kits online and do the whole thing (belly and chest) or just belly. How special would that be for the last baby? :) Thinking of you these last few weeks as you prepare.

  18. Just started reading your blog, what a beautiful family!! Super excited you're doing Hypnobirthing. I did this with my first son. Most spiritual moment of my life ever! The most helpful line my boyfriend said was, breathe the baby down, breathe the baby down. So awesome!!! Best wishes!

  19. Hello, I never left a comment on you blog but I used hypnobirthing for my second child. I think regular pratice is really the key. The pain was less "painful" but still intense. I only pushed for 20 min and that was it. Right after I felt very well and was abble to walk a bit, have lunch and nurse. About a hundred time better than my 1st child wich was a c-section.
    Good luck Marie
