The girls have had the same colored sheets for like ever, so I thought we better change them up a bit. And a few months ago, they had a crayon hidden in the sheets when they got washed and thrown into the dryer and came out with crayon stains all over and it was kinda bugging me. I just haven't had time to clean out the stains or go to the store to get some new fabric, so I thought why not use the tons of fabric I already had lying around!
I saw this and really loved it and tried to recreate it, though I don't have that many vintage sheets (I don't seem to have too much luck finding them here). I can't wait to go looking for some at the thrift, but what we got now will do. The only thing that I used that wasn't vintage was the stripe flat sheet because I still had yardage left over. Everything is a bit quirky and mismatched just the way I like it!
I have started making some new pillow coverings for our own bed, but I still am kinda stuck on what I want or the color scheme. We still pretty much just use a white duvet cover because I can never settle on a color for our bedroom. Maybe plain and white suits our room best, but I will keep trying different things out until I find just the perfect thing.
What kind of bedding do you use? Do you like things plain or colorful?
I prefer colorful, but my husband will have a heart attach if he has to lay his body on anything with flowers. SO that means we're stuck with stripes or leafy designs. I'm more of a shabby chic kind of girl, but marriage is full of compromises! Audrey gets the girly bedding instead.

That little set up you've got is just adorable!!
I'm with you on the white covers for our bed - it means I can showcase the gorgeous quilt bought in France on honeymoon, and lots of lovely handmade cushions. Loving your new bedding for your little girls. So vibrant.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of bedding from when I was a little girl! I love the combination of prints! Right now I have a combo of patterns on my bed but honestly, I love a big white bed!! I get bored easy so it's fun to change the pillows or blankets on top of a white comforter.
ReplyDeleteLoving this bed & the bedding! Especially the corcheted blankie.....did you make it?
ReplyDeleteI love vintage sheets. The bed is so pretty. I love the vintage look.
ReplyDeletelove it, love it, love it!!! so happy and colorful. :)
ReplyDeleteAmy- the crocheted quilt was made by my husband's grandmother. it was for him when he was a baby, so now it is a nice little heirloom for my girls. she was an amazing seamstress and crocheter from what i hear!
ReplyDeleteit's always a surprise to find my bed popping up in unexpected places. i miss that bed!
ReplyDeleteyour vintage interpretation is beyond delightful! such a happy space for anyone to rest their noggin. i used to live in l.a. and found all my vintage at the thrifts. pillowcases are the easiest and sometimes i fill it out using solids, dots and stripes from newer shops.
love your quirky, wonky patching there. the colors are divine! thank you for enjoying my humble eclectic bed making skills. happy summer!
So cute. I love what you have done. I have a dream that one day I will make a quilt out of all of the 'special' clothes from my kids that I have saved. I can't sew to save my life but dream of this quilt that I will snuggle up to & look at the square that was one of my daughter's first dresses or part of my son's favorite blankie. It won't match at all & the colors will include everything but it will light up my heart.
ReplyDeletewow, the new bedding is gOrgeOus!!! <3 love it x
ReplyDeleteThat looks good! I'd say you recreated that photo pretty well. And personally I like plain sheets with a busy quilt and lots of busy pillows. So not much different aha
ReplyDeletelove vintage sheets! the mr is ok with them because they are super soft. when the boys were babies they had vintage floral crib sheets. ha! but they were in shades of blues and greens.
ReplyDeletesuper cute and comfy looking! That's what I find the most is vintage sheets at the thrift shop more so than clothes.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I've been collecting vintage, shabby chic style sheets for my upcoming wedding to make tablecloths. I've been having lots of luck at the thrift stores in Pomona (up and down Holt Ave.) and the Three Way Thrift in Chino. Just FYI! Good luck!

ooooh i love vintage sheets!
ReplyDeletecolour all the way... love anything Anthro carries.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to find some good vintage sheets, but you're right -- it's slim pickings here in L.A.
ReplyDeleteI love the layout of the bed!
ReplyDeleteI am kind of picky too - I want something calm but romantic and when I look at it makes me smile because that is of course where I am going to sleep and I love sleep.
Right now I love my comforter but my sheets are the same print and i think its too silky. And I like different color schemes for seasons.
I feel right now I should have something bright to cheer up because its summer. In the fall/winter I have darker colors.
We had the same sheets growing up! How fun- love your vintage lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteI just adore the bed. So so sweet. :) I'm usually more of a muted tones type of gal but this is super cute.
ReplyDeleteI gave your "cakies" a little blog love today. You're just too great not to share!
Hope you don't mind. :)

I HATE my summer bedding, it's really light (good) and soft (good) and purple (erm...alright) and embroidered with the itchiest most irritating sequins that embed themselves into your skin whilst you sleep! Why did someone think that would be a good idea? They're my "whilst-the-other-set-gets-washed" bedding but I forget to change them back fast and end up looking like a secret cutter. So say "no" to beady sequin torture.
