I went to the doctor and had my sister watch the girls for me and I came home to curled hair, some lipstick (what?!!), and proof of their playing dress up in my camera. Apparently the look Brave was going for was Daisy Duck and True was trying to look like me. Oh man, these girls are such a hoot!
They are some of the girliest girls around! They ooh and ahh when I put on make up and love watching me when I put on nail polish. They are yearning for the day when we will actually let them put color on their nails (though that day won't come until they are teenagers, that's our rule). Girls are so much fun to have around (I am sure boys are too), but having girls is all we know!
I remember when I was a kid, I loved putting on my mom's curlers and walking around in her heels. I see a lot of myself in my little ones. Tell me were you a girly girl too or were you more content without the frills?
I think I fell into the tomboy category too... until I became a teenager and then it was all hair, fashion and beauty tips! My daughter is turning out the exact same way! ;)
ReplyDeleteI came from a family of 7 girls and 3 boys, but was just younger than one of my brothers. I wanted to be just like him... I can even remember coming out of the bath with the towel around my waist (of course waaaayyy before there was even anything to cover up) :) I love the girly girls though, my daughter fits the description of your girls to a T.
ReplyDeletei love the last photo. such little beauties!
ReplyDeleteI was not a girlie girl...
ReplyDeleteMolly is definitely NOT a girlie girl, although, sometimes i wish she was :)
I LOVE the marker marks on their arms, and Brave's feet :)
Why no nail polish??
(just curious, and being nosey)
i was the girliest of girly girls... i even went through a period of time when i wouldn't wear anything but skirts and dresses. i am still very, very girly - i can hardly ever pass up a good floral pattern or anything covered in pink and red hearts.
ReplyDeletealso, i'm a long time reader but this is the first time i've ever commented so i wanted to add that i am sure it's mostly a reflection on your style but true is one of my fashion icons. i love her hair. i want a zooey cut too : )
i was and still am a girly girl.. my zoe is a girly girl through and through. my little pia is a little tomboy.. even her favorite colour is blue!
ReplyDeletei was a girly girl to the max!! i can't imagine having little girls that aren't!
ReplyDeletethat last picture.. true's eyes!! ahhh..... heavenly.
ReplyDeleteoh and that's me, RJ! not rein!
ReplyDeletesami rose- you will love tomorrow's post if you love zooey and true!
ReplyDeletesara- just our preference. we know they will eventually wear it and that is fine when they are older, but we just want to preserve them being little for as long as we can. wearing nail polish just looks so grown up to us, we don't want them to grow up too fast. i like their natural nails with play dough stuck in it! ;) but this is just our personal preference, i think nail polish is fun and does work for some people! just not us, not yet.
auntie reinna- no more lipstick on my girls. thanks! love ya!
ReplyDeletemy daughter Evie is a girly girl too, she only wants to wear dresses, twirly ones! She is obsessed with brides too (she's been to two weddings). She is always dressing up as one!! Evie's a bit concerned that she hasn't found her husband yet, I've told her to wait till she's a grownup!!
ReplyDeleteeek! too cute! I love your girls :)
ReplyDeleteI was definitely NOT a girly girl, and I'm still not to this day. The thought of dresses and skirts make me crazy, I love jeans and a comfy tee. I do blame it on my mom though for making me dress up when I absolutely hated it, and I guess it made me despise it so much that I promised myself I would be comfortable when I was out of the house and able to make my own choices.
My gilrs are funny. Symphony is just like me, not a girly girl. She'll occasionally wear nail polish, doesn't care for lipgloss, wants shorts with t's and tennis shoes. Bella LOVES, LOVES, LOVES girly stuff! She wants lipgloss and nails painted all the time! She loves frilly dresses, high heels, and all the accessories to go alongside her look. I thank God that we are all so different, yet adore each other for who we are as individuals :)
I love their sweet faces, and their hairstyles are way too cute Ruby!
ok LOVE that friends tee by Misha LuLu. i haven't seen all of the past collections in complete, and that one is adorable! have to go through Karen's archives! can't stop saying how adorable your girls are!
ReplyDeleteare you kidding! when we were kids, my sisters and i would play dress up constantly. i can distinctly remember walking around in my mother's wigs... we weren't allowed to wear make-up...but the clothes, the jewelry, the shoes - oh my!
ReplyDeletei'm not much of a girly-girl now... but i can still appreciate it in someone else...
looks like the girls had fun!
