the three little piggies

Once upon a time, there were three little piggies and as with life, it was time for them to grow up and make homes of their own.

The Mom Pig shared some last bits of advice and told them "Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best!" Then, she showered them with kisses and bid them farewell.

All three of the little piggies were so excited to be out on their own. They could hardly wait to be able to do whatever their little piggy hearts desired.

Unfortunately, little did the three little piggies know that a Big Bad Wolf was watching them from afar.

The Baby Little Piggy got tired and decided to make a home. She said to her sisters, "Hey hay! This will make such an easy home."

The other sister piggies reminded her, "Mommy said, "Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best! So are you sure that making a shortcut home is best? What if rain comes? Or strong winds?"

Baby Little Piggy said, "I will be fine! I will just fix it up later."

The two older piggies bid Baby Little Piggy goodbye and continued on their journey.

Baby Little Piggy did not know the wolf was eagerly waiting to get her all alone and once she was, he made his move. The Big Bad Wolf went up to the house and said, "Let me in Baby Little Piggy or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!"

Baby Little Piggy said, "Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin."

But of course, the house of hay was not made very well and so the Big Bad Wolf did the blow the house in and ate the Baby Little Piggy.

Meanwhile, the Middle Little Piggy got tired and decided to build herself a house of twigs. Of course, her older sister warned her against building a house out of twigs. Older Little Piggy said, "Sure, it's easy, but in the end that wouldn't be the best choice."

Middle Little Piggy was just so tired of walking and wanted to rest, so she insisted that she would be fine; she would just fix it up later. With that, the Middle Little Piggy started building her house and the Older Little Piggy went on her merry way.

The Big Bad Wolf approached the Middle Little Piggy's house just as she finished putting it together.

Now being the responsible one and constantly hearing her mother's words, "Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best." She wanted to make sure to build the best house ever, so when she found the perfect spot, she set off to do just that. She found a pile of bricks and went about building her house.

The Older Little Piggy worked long and hard building her house, and it was the sturdiest house that you ever did see! The Older Little Piggy went in to make herself some dinner right about the time the Big Bad Wolf began to approach her house of bricks.

The Big Bad Wolf said, "We'll see about that."

The wolf huffed and puffed, but the house would not blow in. So he tried it again. He huffed and puffed, and huffed and puffed, but still that house would not blow in.

The wolf thought he was very clever, so he made his way onto the roof to climb through the fireplace. Now, the Older Little Piggy was much more clever, so she placed a big boiling pot at the bottom of the hole. Therefore, when the wolf finally climbed down, there was a big "KERSPLASH!" into that boiling pot of water, just in time for the Older Little Piggy's dinner.

The Older Little Piggy cried out, "Sucka! You my suppa!" and that was the end of the Big Bad Wolf. The Older Little Piggy enjoyed her dinner as she was thankful for her mother's advice. She thought, "My mom is right... Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best!"

The Older Little Piggy lived happily ever after!

pure magic

Disney's still got it. Ben hasn't been back to Disneyland since he was 12 (he's 35) and I haven't been back since I was 20 and Disneyland still has the magic that I remember. We were so blessed because going to Disneyland is definitely not in our budget, but thankfully my cousin Jonathan works there and got us in and was our own personal Disney tour guide. It took the girls a bit of time as they are really shy (despite what pictures may show), but they warmed up to their Uncle Jonathan and we all had lots of fun together!

The girls lit up when we walked in, though I think they were going through sensory overload at the same time. They don't watch too much television and they haven't seen very many Disney movies, but they know enough to know who the main characters and princesses are. I think they were shocked seeing these creatures in real life and bigger than them!

A cute moment was when we were walking past the castle when True told me, "Mommy, my favorite is Snow White." But when we finally got in front of Snow White, True's shyness took over and she didn't want to go meet her. I figured we would just gaze from afar, then, all of a sudden, I look up and she's 3/4 of the way there to meet her by herself! True was both nervous and excited! She was absolutely delighted to meet her and take a picture with her (I think the picture shows her joy so perfectly!).

It was such a magical day and I was glad to spend it my prince and little princess', and even with our personal tour guide Jonathan.

Thank you Uncle Jonathan for their Minnie ears (we owe you!) and treating us to such a wonderfully magical place!

The weekend is upon us and it is Halloween weekend, so we will have a special treat for you sometime this weekend. Don't forget to check back. Have a good weekend friends!

p.s. The answer post will come soon, but keep your questions and suggestions coming if you have any!

and we're off

day seven: portland
True is completely well (thank God!) and we are off to a magical adventure today. I am so excited and the girls will be in love... I just know it!

I am behind in emails and comments once again, so I know some of you have asked questions about how we take our family pictures (like do we really make some stranger to take a picture of all of us while Ben and I kiss?) or about my zumi. Please use this post to leave me any questions you have about anything you may been wondering about and I will answer those questions in another post soon. Some people may have the same question you do, so I thought it would be easier to answer them for all of you.

Also for curiosity sake, what other things would you like to see in this space? More craft? More recipes? Please do share! And a new month is upon us, so if you have a blog or shop you want to promote, send me an email and I can send you more sponsor info.

Thanks folks! Be back tomorrow...

no tape

I needed to wrap a present, but couldn't find any tape. What's the next best option? Happy tape! I think this definitely makes a present much more happy!
happy tapehappy tape
I went a bit tape happy and also decorated the front. I am now thinking I will be using this tape to wrap all our Christmas presents. Christmas already, what?!! Yup. It will be here before you know it.

I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping for my girls, but there is just one more thing to get them (must save more pennies first). I think I have done a big chunk of shopping for friends and family too, but I need to go through my list and make sure (and still have things to make for gifts). I hate procrastinating and thus do shopping throughout the year and have all the presents stored in a big bag in my closet. Though as soon as my girlies start figuring that out, I am sure I will have to find a better hiding spot.

True just started acting normal again today. Hurrah! We are gonna head out to do errands and hopefully will get on the next family adventure soon. I am so excited!

One more week left until my birthday. I just like treats from Ben and my family (yes, I still give my parents a wish list) and that is why I like my birthday! I ain't gonna lie. But really, no pressure Benny, no pressure. I just want to have my breakfast and a dinner date!

pacific northwest road trip: day eight

day eight: portlandday eight: portland

day eight: portlandday eight: portlandday eight: portland
Our last day in Portland was a rainy one and for Portlanders I am sure this is normal and it doesn't stop them from getting things done, but for us, we weren't exactly rain prepared so we didn't get to do certain things.

First we went to the PSU farmer's market, but just drove by because we didn't know how to do it in the rain with the girls. I am sure we would have really like it though. Next, we went to Voodoo Doughnuts, but the line was crazy long in the rain, so we passed on that. Then, we headed out to Sauvie Island. We drove by the pumpkin patch, but we didn't have rain boots so we just looked on. We did drive about the entire island and we even got lost. I have decided I would like to live on Sauvie Island! It is so pretty!!! We found the beaches and actually got down to check it out and take some polaroids. When we finally got off the island, we headed back to the eastside to do some vintage shopping.

The last place we ended up was back on Mississippi and we ate at Por Que No one last time and got some carribean food from one of the food trucks. Actually, we got our food and ate in our car, but oh that food truck was so, so good! I am jealous of all the good food you Portlanders get! Oh! And I have to mention that I got some homemade honey lavender ice cream from Lovely's Fifty Fifty on Mississippi and that is my second favorite ice cream ever! Oh how I miss all that yummy food!!!

We headed back to the house early (we stayed at our friend's house while they were out of town) and wanted to pack up and make sure to clean. Portland was everything I expected it to be and loved it.

Dear Oregonian Zaportezas... thank you so much for allowing us to make your beautiful home our home for a few days! And Tiff, thanks for all the foodie tips! We tried to hit up a lot of the places you told us and now we understand why you love Portland so much! The food there is really, really good! So please next time you come down, would you kindly bring some Por Que No?! love, the Bratchers
