My big task for the day is to buy lots of pretty flowers and make lots of pretty little arrangements for this lady's wedding tomorrow.
My favorite flowers are poppies, but they aren't in season right now. And my favorite type of arrangement is anything that looks like they were picked off the side of the road (when we were dating, Ben used to do just that for me). Wildflowers are the best! What is your flower of choice?
Enjoy Autumn's first weekend!!!
In my area, sunflowers are often available and I love them. I also love ranunculus. Have fun playing florist. I can't wait to see your photos!
ReplyDeleteI love peonies, lilies, and hydrangeas. Not together though. And I absolutely agree that wildflower bouquets are the best! Good luck :)

hydrangeas and tulips are my fave! and what a fun job to put the flowers together for dani. have so much this weekend - im sure you all will. :)
ReplyDeleteFor my wedding, we used hydrangeas I picked off the one surviving bush of my mothers, and used Queen Anne's Lace that my maid of honor and I picked from the side of the road. It was the best! Lots of little bugs to contend with, though...
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
When I got married i create my own bouquet: hydrangeas mix with white mums and white carnation (I have a picture)...the hydrangeas (my mom's favorite flowers) was from our backyard & the rest is from the stores. We wanted calla lilly but because it was sold out we took another route... all the bouquets, boutonnieres (was designed by my husband) and the rest of the red roses boutonnieres was create by me
ReplyDeleteWe have dry flowers all over the floor and table...
No flowers arrangement on table because we wanted it simple and beside the restaurant is beautiful. it was held at http://stonyhillinn.com/crystalroom.html (copy and paste the link)...as you can see the ceiling.
I love poppies also!!
Have fun.
i am so blessed to know you ruby.
ReplyDeletewell you know all my flower choices ;) AHHHHHH. its tomorrow. i dont think im ready yet! okay. see you soon.
How exciting!! I'm so excited for Danni!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how your flower arrangements turn out (and all the other lovely events at the wedding!)
I love peonies, white hydrangeas, stargazer lilies, and peach tulips :) Those are the types of flowers I hope to have at my wedding one day.
Have a fantastic time tomorrow!! So many festivities!! :)
I am CRAZY about columbines. Unfortunately, it's illegal to pick them in Colorado.
ReplyDeletemmm, wildflowers really are the best. :) Good luck with the arranging!
ReplyDeleteI had magnolias in my wedding, but I've always loved daisies. Simple, and pretty!
ReplyDeleteDon't'forget to take lots of pictures.

we got married in a cow pasture in texas hill country in May . . . and all the bouquets were made out of wildflowers. sigh.
ReplyDelete(we too, had to slap off a few bugs along the way)
What fun playing florist! I went to the flower markets recently when I was styling my daughters vintage inspired Sweet 16 party and put together all the flower arrangements. Boy was I surprised how long it took me!!! Hope you are faster than me :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Have an amazing time are her wedding, it's going to be just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ruby!
ReplyDeleteI use to do floral design and depending on your color scheme here are my faves for "wildflower" selection: queen anne lace (as you pictured), sweet peas, lavender & wax flowers. They are soft and pretty and very resilient too so you would not worry about them wilting before your event ends.
Oh and a quick tip on poppies...if you need them out of water (for a corsage or a hairpiece) you need to singe the ends with a lighter. It should stay pretty for a while without wilting.
tulips. had them for my wedding. simple and lovely. good luck today.

I did the flowers (apart from the bouquets and buttonholes) for my sister-in-law's wedding. I loved it. To be able to go to the flower markets and spend someone else's money on beautiful flowers and then get to arrange them... heavenly.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely flowers!!!!!
ReplyDeletehow fun! i would love to see pictures!! also, i was wondering if you would do a tutorial of a sort on your slice of life videos! i don't know how simple it is but i have absolutely no idea where to start. i would love to learn :)

oh wow, the last flowers are gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteRuby, I agree with you 100%. I had poppies for my wedidng bouquet even though the florist said you just can't. It was so fun buying handfuls of lots of other bits and pieces and putting it together ourselves. I also love the "thrown together" wildflower look. I find tightly arranged bunches just don't do justice to this beautiful wild thing that is a flower.
