horse shoes

I have been trying to find some fun outdoor games for the girls to play with, which led me to buy the girls this game of horse shoes. I think they get the idea, but in order for them to get their horse shoe on the post they pretty much stand 1 foot away from the post and drop it right on top. Whatever works right?!!

Next game on my list... a vintage croquet set! There were two a couple weeks ago that I really liked on ebay, but they ended going for way more than I was willing to pay. I will patiently keep checking.

What outdoor games do you like to play?

  2. We just bought a croquet set from TJ Maxx so we play that outside....when it's not too hot...we also go to the park down the road and play tennis.

  3. We have a set of soccer cones. The kids like to set them up in the yard and make up rules about how to/order in which to run around them.

  4. Croquet is super fun. We found our vintage set at the flea Market for $8. We also have bocce ball, and ladder golf, and my husband keeps eyeing lawndarts. Although I am not sure they are safe. :)

  5. Cornhole! Most definitely! If you have no idea what it is, Google it. It is awesome, a lot like horseshoes but less messy and you can paint the board however you like. I think the young ones would take to it quite well. Have fun! :)

  7. we just bought my mom bocce ball as a birthday gift - it makes for a fun time except that my hands are so small so it's hard to get a good grip on the ball!

  9. I love both these games. The first one reminds me of my Mum because she used to play it when she was a child. I've also always loved the idea of having a tea party where all the guests play/watch a nice game of croquet.

    Lovely pics!

  11. Croquet was a favorite at every family get-together growing up (because kids could play with adults!!). Now our favorite is Corn Hole (I'm a good midwestern girl!)... we play it every time we're in Ohio or on the beach!!!
