scenes of our day

messesmesseslittle handskeeping me warm
Three kids. Not much gets done in a day now that I have three. Time goes faster, more messes are made, and sometimes I feel that I won't ever catch up. I am definitely having to learn to rebalance, it isn't easy and often times I find myself frustrated. In times like these, I need to pray more. Well, I ought to pray more regardless.

I lay down to feed Soul and I hear the older girls making a ruckus somewhere, I come out to find a mess of toys laid out everywhere! This can sometimes drive me crazy as the inner neat freak inside me freaks out, but I must learn to let things go. It is just an absolute must for my sanity. Nevertheless, though sometimes they and their messes can drive me insane, at the end of the day as I sit with them on the couch and cuddle, I am definitely glad to be there mom. I will happily take them messes and all. Thank you Lord for giving me True, Brave, and Soul.

  1. Thanks for sharing those great pics... the colors are making me feel so cheerful since it's gloomy out today.Love the shot of Soul's tummy! :)

You'll get used to having 3 little ones... remember cleaning house isn't the most important thing. You are spending your time doing important things that will last a lifetime...nobody will look back & remember how clean or dirty your house was, they'll remember all the fun things you do with them. I had 3 little ones ages 4,2 & 9 months when we had to move out of state over 1,000 miles & I had to drive the car while try to take care of them following my hubby's uhaul...I thought I wouldn't make it but I did....you have to make your intention for the day & follow it.It won't be the end of the world if you don't accomplish everything... that's what tomorrow is for. :) Not only that, the girls are getting older & will soon be able to pick up their own mess which will help since you are a neat freak but anybody with kids knows nobody's house can always be spotless.a lived in home is a happy home.... people who have such perfect homes all the time probably have lots of stress from the upkeep. :)

  2. Why can't shots of my tummy look that cute?

    Don't answer.

I only have 2 littles... and my life is often crazy.

    Breathe .

    Love to you!

  3. I have been struggling to find that balance (assuming that it exists) ever since Eleanor was born. Every time I begin to feel like I have things under control a lot more, I am humbled and reminded that God is really in charge. Not that he doesn't greatly bless diligence and hard work!!! I find the times I am most frustrated, I am really the one to blame. I spent most of the day not really doing more than the bare minimum. I am ashamed when I realize how far from the Proverbs 31 woman I am on those days of... to be honest... flat out laziness.

Not that I think YOU'RE being lazy. Having a newborn puts me into a constant state of tired. You give so much of yourself in nursing and carrying and providing security. It definitely takes a toll!

The peace that we find when we open our eyes to take a look at what is really and truly important is so special to me. I need it like I need to breathe. Otherwise I continue to think, "If I just did this, or if they would just do that..." and so on. It looks like, at the end of this post, you have found that peace that passes all understanding :) Now don't let it slip away in the crazy event that an unexpected visitor shows up at your door!

    Hugs for you today, mama.

  5. Precious!!!! ITs hard to get through the days of endless mess's. I have only one and I feel weak and crosseyed at the end of the day. Give yourself the credit you deserve for taking such good care of your little messy angels. God does!
Thank you for sharing more beautiful pictures!

  7. I nanny sometimes for 3 little boys ages 4, 2 and 10 mos., and I often think, "how does their mom do anything but watch them and change diapers and read books to them and make meals? How does she ever clean and do laundry and have people over or do anything she needs to get done?"

Oh my. Stay-at-home mommies are precious!
You are doing something that is SO important, Ruby, don't ever doubt it. You are nurturing life. (That is definately a Godly trait, btw, since God is the Creator of all life, and He also loves children! Matt. 10:14 :)
Your little girls are learning how to -Biblically- look at God and love and family and life and themselves during this growing-up time...what is that old quote?.. "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!"
(your fam has it so right with their "rockin mommy day"!)

Sometimes it's the Little Things that are really the Big Things in life, isn't it? (I need to remind myself of that more often)

    praying for you!
    Kelsey :o)

  9. There is creativity happening in your house! It is much better than having them glued to the tv!!! Try to schedule at least one hour a week to get out and be in the adult world. It will help with the sanity and you'll always find yourself missing them. This is a big job right now but you will have no regrets! ;)

  10. Hi Ruby I love, love, love the belly shot!!!
You are doing a great job!!!
Please remember they are this small for only a season before you know it they will be all grown up. Take it from a mommy of five. One of my babies is already married and I have two in high school and two little ones. It all goes too quickly. A verse comes to mind.
A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Be blessed in this precious time with your sweet little ones.

  11. I know the mess thing is hard. I have a 18 mo old that follows me around and pulls out everything I put away, and then some. So I just try to remind myself that one day they will be all grown up and the days of mess will be no more. Then I know that I will miss the mess days.

  14. I am glad to be honest with all of you. I am by no means the perfect mother and therefore struggle with all the normal things that moms and women in general struggle with too! i love my kids so much, but they definitely are a lot of work, but i wouldn't have it any other way!

  15. You are my kind of mama, Ruby. I had my three in 3 years and it is NOT EASY. You just have to laugh at their messes and spills because one day, they won't be there anymore.

You are a GOOD MOM. Be proud.

i am a neat freak too, and i still haven't mastered the art of "letting things go"...

thank goodness, I have a wonderful hubby that tidies up after the girls, when I'm not up to it anymore.

  17. I was listening to a kid's Bible song CD today and realized I put the wrong reference in my prev comment. I was really meaning Matt. 19:14-15. lol. Can't trust my memory for references. :o)
