polaroid tuesday: week fifty-two

This is it folks. The last one for 2009 and we celebrated with some balloons. One for each member of our family. We are so glad to close out this wonderful year with a new little member. We are so blessed.
week fifty-two
I really enjoyed taking a polaroid a week and sharing it with you all. I am not sure I will continue next year, but I got a week to figure that out, so we will see...

Christmas was good, very good, even if Ben and I had two fights (again, we are so normal) over the weekend and I came down with mastitis the day after Christmas. Nevertheless, it was a joyous time of celebrating Christ's birthday. I will soon share some of the handmades that were given and received.

The biggest thing for me this Christmas was to learn to let things go. I wanted to make a "Merry Christmas" banner, but never got around to it. I wanted to do our family Christmas card, but I had to let that go as well as a few other things that I had envisioned, but realized that I really can't do everything. Having a newborn makes things a bit more difficult. Plus, it isn't the "stuff" that makes Christmas important or special, it is Christ.

The new year is coming and we are excited. We will be getting ready to celebrate it Bratcher-style. It will be oh so fun!

  1. I'm sure you've heard of this, but have you tried putting (I can't believe I'm saying this) cabbage leaves in your bra? I've never personally had mastitis, but two of my friends did, and both of them said that the leaves worked.

I'm glad you had a wonderful Christmas though! :)

  2. crunch the leaves up a little first. and make sure you put them in a bra you don't mind smelling like cabbage!

Oh, and use cold leaves, it's more soothing (:

  3. tell me about it, no Christmas card or any of the projects I had, but of course it was a great Christmas, I am glad you guys enjoyed it too!
Give my love to the fam. Bela is asking about the girls already!

  4. oh Ruby, I kind of get where you're coming from with letting things just go. Isn't it great though to have that bit of stress relieved, in knowing that you have that one thing less to do?

Mastitis, ouch! I had my bout with each child once, and all I can say is thank God you're over it :)

I'm praying for you and the Bratcher household ♥

  5. Hi! I think your last polaroid pic is really cute how each balloon represents your family. :) Sorry to hear about the mastitis... didn't have that but did have other issues,so I can feel for you. I can't wait to see your new year celebration... wonder if little Soul will be awake at midnight. Can't wait to see more pics of her & True & Brave. Have a great rest of the year & take care of yourself. :)

  6. Hi Ruby!

I'm so glad that you had a wonderful Christmas. Though, we mommies are always trying to "over-do-it" a bit, aren't we?

What a year full of blessings you've had! I am happy that you are not ashamed to announce to the world whom those blessings are received from.

Love to you and your sweet family,

  7. thanks for all the mastitis advice! i never thought to use cabbage leaves for that, but i have used it for engorgement. oh the joys of breastfeeding!

and letting things go... i am still working on learning that. i have get more used to it now that i have three kids!

  9. Oooh, I can't wait! Hearing you share about having to let things go through the holidays is SO affirming. We're going to have to do a New Year family picture sometime this week. I hope.
    Sending our love!!!

  10. Oh you poor thing, mastitis. I had it with Audrey (vented about it on my blog back then) - I ended up on antibiotics but they worked a treat. Prior to that I felt absolutely dreadful and it was so difficult to have to get out of bed to feed a little baby. Another lady told me to take lecithin granules every day. Many swear by it to stave off future bouts of mastitis.

And Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a few spats thrown in! We had a few in our family, lucky Christmas is but once a year eh!

xxxxx (one for each of you)

  11. Oh, and this polaroid is quite possibly my favourite. So joyful!
